Harness 2023’s interior design trends as the year ends to enjoy beautiful spaces

As we come to the last quarter of the year, we have decided to share 2023’s sustainable interior design trends worth investing in.

Here are 2023’s K’wanzi Accents-approved interior design trends for you to try in your home or office.

  • Statement Stones

Statement stones work well for wall backdrops and bathroom fittings, they can replace the Black-and-white kitchen countertops we’ve seen for a while. This interior design trend is worthwhile because it creates a distinct look.

“People are leaning toward statement marbles with dramatic veining and unique colour patterns. This trend allows for a stunning focal point that captures attention and adds a sense of timeless natural luxury,” - Lisa Berman and Melissa Rohani, co-founders of Studio Gutow.

You may have to cough a pretty penny for a good sculptor, but the result will be worth it.

  • Biophilic interior designs

Rethinking the future defines the biophilic design concept as one that aims to reconnect humanity with the natural environment.

You can incorporate this interior design trend by adding natural elements in the space such as stone, plants and water to create a sanctuary-like environment.

The beauty of this interior design trend is that it exudes a relaxed and calm effect when well executed.

We’d also recommend being practical in how to utilize the space, so the natural elements added in biophilic design are not a hindrance in how you utilize the space.- K’wanzi Accents Interior Design

  • Paint color

Paint colours have also shifted this year. While white and neutrals have been staples for almost three years now, 2023 is a year of boldness. People are more open and expressive.

Dark green paint colour (Mod and Mood)

The Color Forest Green also known as Spanish Moss is Krylon’s 2023 color of the year and beautiful to incorporate for focus walls.

“It is associated with rich nature such as dense forests and mossy terrain. It can balance both warm and cool accents.” - Krylon

We love its richness and calm tone and how it brings attention to the wall or statement furniture piece.

Another colour to try out this year is Viva Magenta Pantone’s 2023 colour of the year because bold hues are in. This hue of the red family and the vibrancy of this colour make it a great accent addition to your interior design.

“Viva Magenta is a powerful and unique colour, full of joy, a great balance between warm and cold.” - André Almeida (Design Books website)

  • Organic curves

In 2023, this interior design trend’s focus is gentler and minimal curves. Organic curves express luxe and minimalism, which makes them a  good investment.

“Organic curves draw inspiration from natural elements such as plants and rivers, resembling living organisms that embody flexibility and movement. These shapes evoke a sense of coziness, warmth, and relaxation, imparting tranquillity to the spaces they inhabit” - ArchDaily.
